[Shenzhen, June 23]The TFT-LCD Module, a core component in smartphones, tablets, automotive displays, and other electronic devices, is undergoing a new round of supply-demand realignment. Industry analysis predicts that global demand for TFT-LCD Modules will reach 850 million units in 2025, with China accounting for over 50% of production capacity, maintaining its leading position in the global market. Meanwhile, emerging technologies such as Mini-LED and flexible displays are driving the industry toward higher-end and more diversified development.
In 2025, the global TFT-LCD Module market is expected to maintain a 5% annual growth rate, with small and medium-sized modules (primarily used in smartphones and automotive displays) constituting over 60% of total demand. The Asia-Pacific region remains the largest consumer market, with China alone contributing more than 40% of global demand, while North America and Europe focus on high-end applications such as medical displays and industrial control equipment.
On the supply side, China’s robust industrial chain and economies of scale have enabled it to achieve a production capacity of 420 million units in 2024, accounting for more than 50% of global output. Leading manufacturers like BOE and Tianma Microelectronics continue to expand production while accelerating their shift toward advanced technologies, including Mini-LED backlight and flexible displays.
Despite being the world’s largest producer of TFT-LCD Modules, China still faces a supply gap in high-end products, such as high-refresh-rate and ultra-thin flexible modules. In 2024, domestic demand reached approximately 380 million units, with 40 million units of high-end modules imported due to reliance on key materials like glass substrates and driver ICs.
By application, smartphones remain the largest demand driver, accounting for 35% of the market, while automotive displays are the fastest-growing segment, expected to capture 20% of the market by 2025. Emerging applications like AR/VR and smart home devices are also contributing to incremental demand.
The TFT-LCD Module industry still faces critical supply chain constraints:
Mini-LED Display and Flexible Display Expansion
Mini-LED backlight adoption to reach 20%, driving up high-end TFT-LCD Module prices by 10%-15%;
Flexible displays to accelerate in smartphones, potentially exceeding 30% market share by 2030.
In 2025, the global TFT-LCD Module market will enter a phase of ”stable volume, rising quality”, with Chinese firms leveraging scale advantages to move into high-value segments. However, achieving self-sufficiency in core upstream materials remains a critical challenge, and the progress of domestic substitution will significantly influence China’s competitiveness in the global display industry.
